So finally got around to using this domain. Figure I’ll set it up to deliver all of my witty and futile rants, reviews and development thoughts. Hope you find something to enjoy.
A word on where ‘slaingod’ came from. It’s not any particular attack on God or your beliefs. My real first name is Slain, and over the years I’ve picked up a few nicknames, which in the world of registration logins kept evolving as I tried to find something that wasn’t used on a particular site. So the evolution (gasp) goes something like this: slay, sleighdog, slaydog, slaindog, and finally to slaingod. Anyway, I thought it sounded cool, got the domain, sat on it awhile, and now here we are.
I’m a web developer currently, in the social networking and media sharing space, though in past incarnations I’ve been a backend database ETL (Extraction Transaction & Loading) developer for a large transaction system with billions of transactions a day. But deep down I’m just a hacker (not the bad kind), with my current dev interests being in Ruby and Rails, Adobe Flex, some C# development. I am a fan of the Free Open Source Software movement, particularly of Magick, FFMPEG, MPlayer/Mencoder, and Ruby/Rails. I have one open source application I currently maintain at sourceforge, ExQueues Shell Queue, a C++ based Windows application queueing up file operations that take a long time and use a lot of resources, in particular PAR2 archive repairs and UnRAR.
